The origin of the creation of angklung music cannot be separated from the view of life of the Sundanese people who are agrarian with the source of life from rice as the staple food, which gave birth to the myth of belief in Nyai Sri Pohaci as a symbol of the Goddess of Padi, the giver of life. Although it first appeared in West Java, angklung in its development developed and spread throughout Java, then to Kalimantan and Sumatra.

During its development, angklung developed and spread throughout Java, then to Kalimantan and Sumatra. In 1908, a cultural mission from Indonesia to Thailand was recorded, which was marked by the handover of angklung, and this bamboo music game had spread there. In fact, since 1966, Udjo Ngalagena, an angklung figure who developed playing techniques based on pelog, salendro, and madenda tunings, began teaching how to play angklung to many people from various communities.

Director of Business Development for Saung Angklung Udjo, Satria, who was asked to comment, said that the appointment of angklung as The Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, in Nairobi, Kenya, on November 16, 2010, was an extraordinary moment. "This is an acknowledgment that we should be grateful for and an extraordinary moment," he said.

He explained that Indonesians tend to see angklung from its material function only. In fact, in angklung there are many values that can be taken. And this is a challenge in the future, when angklung is an intangible world heritage, these other values must be more socialized. The challenge in the future, he continued, is how angklung is used in the health industry, such as for health therapy and many other values that can be developed.
